The Automotive Technology AAS degree prepares individuals to use technical knowledge and skills to fix, service, and keep all types of cars and light trucks. Through class direction and hands-on training, you will learn how to detect, service and repair brake systems, electrical systems, engine efficiency, engine repair work, suspension and steering, automated and manual transmissions and drive trains, and heating and air condition systems.
Graduates of this path will be required to take professional licensure examinations, which represent certain programs of study, and to enter professions as entry-level service technicians in the transportation market.
Students who finish the Automotive information technology AAS degree are midway to making a bachelor’ degree in Automotive Technology at SIUC. The students will have made 55 of the 129 term hours of credit needed for the degree.
